Letter From a New Murfreesboro Mommie

Letter From a New Murfreesboro Mommie

We love getting letters like this!  It warms our hearts and we love to share them.  This is why we do what we do.

Quoting Amy Stojakovich about the new Murfreesboro class:

Stacy,

I just wanted to say "Thank you" for such a wonderful class this morning. My children, Logan and Avery Grace, really loved it! I just  moved here from Chicago and we tried several music classes there with Logan.  However, I always felt like I was paying for something I could do myself.

When we came today, I didn't know what to expect. As soon as we entered the door, I heard you singing with the class and both of my children were mesmerized. Your voice was so soothing and touching towards the children that it brought tears to my eyes to see their faces in amazement. I cannot tell you how much fun we all had.
I am looking forward to next week already!

Also, I listened to the clips from the cd online today and it brought such peace to the room.

I cannot tell you how thankful I am to have found this class.

Bless you,
Amy Stojakovich

Making Strides in the New Year with Stroller Strides of Nashville

by Deena Prichard with Stroller Strides of Nashville

Did you make a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight or to get in shape? How many years have you set the same resolution only to have given it up by February? You’re certainly not alone. We all have good intentions but life seems to get in the way. Following are 8 tips to get you started on the path to exercise.

1. Goal Setting. Set S.M.A.R.T. (SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ACHIEVABLE, REALISTIC AND TIMELY) goals to set you up for success.
2. Fit It In To Your Lifestyle- This year, find activities that will easily fit in to your lifestyle. If you have babies, consider a Stroller Strides class. If you don’t have time to go to a gym, then try exercise tapes or just walk right in front of your house.
3. Find Things You Enjoy – Yoga, Walking, Running, Basketball, Racquetball, Bike Riding, Swimming, Spinning. The list goes on and on. Do what you enjoy and you’ll stick with it.
4. Reward Yourself – Set a goal and set a reward that you will be excited to receive. Here’s an idea. Pay yourself every time you workout. At the end of the month, use that money to treat yourself to something.
5. Sign up for an event – If you sign up for an event, it helps keep you on track with your training because you know what you have to achieve and by when.
6. Get A Workout Pal/Group –People with workout partners are far more likely to stick to their routine.
7. Get Your Family Involved – Create an active family.
8. Stay Motivated. You’re more likely to stick with an exercise routine if it inspires you. If you get revved up every time you hear the theme song to Rocky, then by all means start your day with it!

Music with Mommie participants can try 3 free Stroller Strides classes and receive 1/2 off the registration fee or get $10 off class packages! Sign up at your first class and we will waive the registration fee!

Register for your free classes at www.strollerstrides.net/nashville. Put Music with Mommie as your referral source. Please RSVP for your first class. Contact Deena at 615-319-4210 or deena@strollerstrides.net.

All Day Long

All Day Long

by KC Hopkins

It's February and Love is in the Air!  As mommies, we all have our own special quirky ways to tell our kids how much we love them.  In our house, we say "I love you more than the sun!" (taken from the sweet, yet powerful, Matthew West song I Love You More).

Music is such a wonderful medium for expressing love.  All across the eons there have been countless love songs written - some great, some sappy.  We sing the I Love You massage rhyme song in Music With Mommie class to share a special moment with our little ones.

But don't let the Baby Love end there!  Make up a funny song using the pet names you have for your kids.  It doesn't have to rhyme or even have a great tune.  It will be the best song ever to your child's heart!  Or, put on some of those great love songs and sing and dance around the living room together.  Whether you're rockin' out to Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love or slow dancing to You Are So Beautiful, you are making memories that will last a lifetime, as well as teaching your children about the joy of unconditional love.

It's so very important to tell our kids everyday how much we love them.  But just as importantly, we need to take the time out to show them.  And a love song is the perfect thing to do just that!  Whether it's your own creation or one of the great epic love songs, what matters most is the love you put into sharing it together.  So, share the love in your heart - you'll be amazed at how much love you get in return!

Love is like a violin. The music may stop now and then, but the strings remain forever.
--June Masters Bacher

Music with Mommie's Healthy-at-Home Valentine Cookies

1 cup salt-free margarine

2/3 cup raw, natural sugar

1/4 cup egg substitute (equal to one egg)

1 tsp vanilla

2 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour

1/2 tsp salt substitute

Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg substitute and then the vanilla, mixing thoroughly. Combine flour and salt substitute. Blend into the creamed mixture. For easier rolling, chill dough several hours or overnight. When you are ready to bake, heat oven to 350 [degrees]. Roll dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into heart shapes. Place close together on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. Do not allow to brown. Cool on a wire rack. Decorate with Egg Yolk Paint. Makes 6 dozen 2-inch cookies.

Egg Yolk Paint

1 egg yolk

1/4 tsp water

Natural food coloring

Blend egg yolk and water. Add food coloring. Remember that the yellow color of the egg yolk will affect the color of the paint. If the paint gets too thick, add a little more water. May be stored in the refrigerator and used at a later time.
