Music With Mommie Goes to Toys R Us
Music With Mommie directors Stacy Jagger and KC Hopkins recently had the pleasure of partnering with Toys R Us in Murfreesboro and Cool Springs as judges for the Beautiful Baby contest. There were so many precious children and their proud mommies participating in the event. And even a few very proud pappas!
It was so much fun visiting with the parents and children. It was very hard choosing a winner. Everyone was adorable!
We send a great big thank you to Toys R Us for asking us to be a part of such a great event! For more photos, go to www.musicwithmommie.com and click on the blog page!
In The Spotlight
"Music with Mommie has been such a delight. Alexandra asks every morning if it is Friday so she can go to "music class"! I love the one-on-one time we have in such an energetic and musically enriched environment. The variety of themes and instruments keep Alexandra (and me!) thoroughly entertained."

The Jug Band Blues
So I was watching an old episode of Andy Griffith the other day as I was on YouTube looking for “Jug Bands” and a scene inspired me with “Andy and The Darlings” as the jug player said to Andy, “Did you bring your stringed instrument Sheriff?” Andy replies, “Oh I didn’t think we’d have time for music.” And the jug player says with a grin, “Y’got time to breathe—Y’got time for music.” And off they went with a one, a two and a one-two-three…
I’m so busy. Aren’t you? Ain’t got time for whistlin’ and a’carryin’ a merry tune. I got planes to catch and rear-ends to wipe and Yahoo links to read on caucuses and casseroles. Not to mention all of the various activity that merely lives in my head that spins like a rat and wears me out leaving me high and dry like a pair of worn out overalls, right here in the suburbs.
I miss the front porch days and I wasn’t even alive when people were using them. I miss the black skillet cornbread days when lard was in a big bucket and Grandma wore aprons while needle pointing pillowcases and shopping for fabric at Fred’s. And I miss really bad singing. When you know every off key note is coming straight from the heart.
So here’s my ploy. I say we all get together and have an old time singin’. Where we sit in a circle and sing all those old songs Grandma knew that we just can’t remember the words to or we sing one verse with lots of hmmms and falala’s. OR. I could just meet you down at Music with Mommie where all the ruckus is.
We might even eat some cornbread afterwards.
